For Hunts MD John Brown the decision was easy; a new XL650V Transalp. John' enthusiasm for the Transalp is obviously infectious as our great friend 'Peter Pan' Pete Wardle has just taken delivery of one too!
With over 50 years riding experience, and a very active member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, Peter's annual mileage is legendary. He regularly averages between 30 and 40 thousand miles a year on two wheels travelling both in the UK and on the Continent. His usual bike of choice is the STX1300 Pan European (hence the nickname!) which is ideal for eating up the miles on one of his regular jaunts across the water, but the little Transalp is likely to see some serious miles too with a New Year trip to Scotland already planned, plus a visit to Switzerland in February.
So what is it about the Transalp that makes it such an appealing choice? - John explains: "The Transalp is the ideal bike for me at this time of year. I ride to and from work seven days a week, often in busy traffic and in all sorts of weather so the compact size and easy handling of the XL650V makes the journey something to look forward to. The Transalp is great fun to ride, has plenty of power and its reliability is the stuff of legends".

For Peter the choice was even more straightforward. He is currently recovering from an 'off' suffered a couple of months ago in Europe which resulted in him being hospitalised for a while. Eager to aid his recovery by getting straight back in the saddle, he wanted a bike that was a little lighter than the Pan, but would still eat up the miles with ease. As is always the case with Peter's new bikes, the Transalp was well run in and due for its first service within days of delivery!
