Many bikers in and around the Cheshire area will already be familiar with our good friend Mike Moloney from Peak Rider Training. Based in Macclesfield, Cheshire, Mike is a DSA registered and approved Post-Test Motorcycle Trainer for delivery of the Enhanced Rider Scheme and has over 35 years riding experience, both on the road and in competition. A passionate biker, Mike firmly believes that when it comes to getting the most from your bike, the more you know, the better it gets – and that’s a view we certainly share.

Whether you’re a newly-licensed rider, a 'born-again' biker or a seasoned veteran, Mike’s aim is to help you become a better rider and with Peak Rider Training you’ll receive personalised riding instruction specific to your needs. As well as sharpening up your road skills and discovering ways to get more from your machine, some of their training options may even qualify you for significant savings on your bike insurance.
Brushing Up On Riding Skills
No matter how experienced you are as a rider, many of us accept that there are always particular areas where our roadcraft could be improved, but identifying and then correcting specific issues is not always easy. Mike offers comprehensive rider assessment sessions (usually a 40 minute ride followed by a 20 minute debrief session) allowing the opportunity to highlight areas which might benefit from further training. An assessment is also included in his half and full day sessions which allow more time to practise and refine specific riding skills with ongoing feedback. Should you wish, you can use theses courses as a preliminary step towards gaining your Enhanced Rider Insurance Certificate (an ‘ERIC!’). For riders who are really keen to enhance their riding skills, Mike also offers a two day course which takes in some of the best and most challenging ‘biking’ roads that the UK has to offer, with routes that take in parts of Wales, the Peak District, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
Motorcycle Tours
If you’ve always fancied the idea of motorcycle touring, but would prefer to travel in a small group, Peak Rider Training's recently introduced motorcycle tours might be just the thing to consider. Mike has tailored a selection of accompanied tours catering for a maximum of four riders each (plus pillions of course!). For the 2010 season, a tour of the Scottish Highlands, a trip to Belgium and a fly/hire trip to Spain are scheduled, all of which will be accompanied by Mike himself. You can find out more details/tour dates on the Peak Motorcycle Training Website.
